    Yes - the program is a little dated - but it still is oh so useful!!.


    It was not written to run under 64 or 128 bit systems (XP VISTA or Windows7).


    However on the brighter side ...............


    I have written CHECKHEX.EXE V.02 which is happy to run under XP 32 bit (SP3).


    ALSO if you know what to do it can be run under VISTA 32 bit (but I do not support it).


    This latest version removes itself from the objdata folder after execution so the program needs
    to be stored on the users computer and then just copied to the users objdata folder.


    It is almost ready for general release. Anyone wanting a pre-release copy simply e-mail me direct. no problem.

    LATEST UPDATE - have downloaded your ENGIWNAM.DAT & renamed it to default ETOWNNAM.DAT - am I a happy bunny!!! :P:P:P:P

    Names like "Adler" for ...........it is more like a town name. :P
    Of course there might be a town called BR 101 but unlikely.
    If you did an International list I'm sure other members from France, Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Russia etc may post thier favourites here.
    If it proves popular for International train names rather than national interest - I would like that DAT file for sure!!.
    That really would please me personaly. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Excellent question - as I see it the executable derives town names from a range of 6 string tables:[0-5]
    Taking the ETOWNNAME.DAT as an example here are the following used stringtables:-
    stringtable[0]= 4
    stringtable[1]=112 **** try this as a starter ?
    stringtable[4]= 24
    stringtable[5]= 10
    Clearly the minimum would be 112 if stringtable[1] used on it's own.[THERE IS A MAX townname in game - is it 255?]
    Might I suggest just start with that, because you are not going to need to mix the strings like lomo does.

    Thank you for correcting my observations - as no mention was made (Fahrzeug-Dats) I assumed it was Max Editor Dat files. :rolleyes:

    This Station is getting better and better - and naturally my own patience is sorely tested because I cannot wait for your release date - that may be :soon ?
    I also love the 'Stone/Concrete' paved area outside the station.
    That is fantastic and can be so usefull all over the Scenario map. ;)
    I have visited Hamburg station but that was way back in '98 - I truthfully cannot say I remember the Station design in detail, all I can remeber is the 'RED LIGHT' District :rolleyes::rolleyes:.
    Digi, it really is nice to see you continue to add useful stations, docks, buildings and landscape items etc for all of us to use in our games.

    I have often wondered about this too.!
    So this morning I have deleted these two 'language' scripts from the A4.DAT and can report that everything appears AOk - after checking XML Ok, and running locomotion Ok.
    I will now write a small program to re-write ALL my objdata dats using only the lanuage descriptors [0]-[5] [first 6 languages].
    I will let you know what results I get ;(:P:P
    UPDATE INFO 1 : I am also checking out Windows code pages for Portugese [860] and Traditional Chinese [950]
    UPDATE INFO 2: My objdata folder currently holds 3316 DAT files. All have been changed to contain only 6 languages. This has resulted in peculier displays see attached Pics.
    I will run one more global test with languages [9] and [11] included but containing no characters in descriptor.
    UPDATE INFO 3: I have checked the portugese code page [860] and confirm that the symbols and characters are used for conversion to portugese keyboards.
    An interesting site to look at is

    where detailed explanations are given for the
    variations of portugese. Hope this has been useful. This research has helped me, I hope it has hepled others. The Chinese code page [950] also applies.

    That is good news for all of us :thumbsup: .


    Due to Speedy's idea , I have now added another executable program to my retinue, yet to be released.


    It is called GHOSTBLD.EXE.


    This program creates an additional set of building dats from players building dats in objdata folder.


    The additional buildings are named HIDE0000.DAT up to HIDE9999.DAT.


    Players will have a choice of building types as follows....
    1 PERM Permanent buildings that produce cargoes
    2 MISC Permanent buildings that produce no cargo
    3 HIDE Hidden buildings that produce cargoes that can be deleted by player.


    These three types are in addition to the standard default buidings that the AI normally use.


    We clearly are progressing locomotion the right way - more new ideas are helping us all.! :P:P

    Your reference to Locotool Old is a misnomer.
    There is no locotool Old .
    I do appreciate this phrase 'locotool old' is often used.
    I and many others would like to know what is Locotool New and who is it's author?
    J Drexler developed locotool during Sept 2004 and Nov 2004 the first 3 months of Locomotion's birth.
    During Nov 2004 J Drexler produced the latest version.
    There are many programs such as:-
    1 locotool-frontend
    2 locobrowser
    3 locobrowser2
    4 locobrowser25
    5 locowrapper
    None of these programs were written by J Drexler
    but each of the above has to call upon J Drexlers's Locotool.

    J Drexlers locotool is not 'old'.
    IT IS current and IT IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS, IT IS WHOLSOME and FRESH and AS BRILLIANT AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN.
    A BIT OF HISTORY for newish members:-
    Forum members may recall that Christmas day /Boxing Day 2008 some DATS were introduced as a christmas gift with the 4th byte hex vale set to a value other than HEX 11.
    The presenter invited members to dissasemble it if they wished - not aware that I for one knew of the 4th Byte value and it's effect and this information was in the public domain.
    This hex code prevented users using any of the above software to dissassemble those dats because locotool reported them as not a dat.
    I and many other members found this most annoying ....
    HENCE my giving birth to CHECKHEX.EXE (T'was painfull but quick).
    A tiny program making a big change.
    It is on this fanpage only - I felt that it was right that fanpage members should be given it as a free gift. :P:P
