The Bude 34006 is an unrebuilt Westcountry Class 4-6-2 locomotive designed by Bulleid for the Southern Railway. This version is modelled on the version seen in 1966 at Eastleigh. Bude was one of only six engines that retained the longer smoke deflectors. She did have safety modifications made to her cab as did all the other Westcountry class engines. The original cabs provided a window that was too small an area of drivers to see enough of what they were about to hit!
Another point to note is that the pony wheels on the Bude in 1966 did not match those popularly associated with the Westcountry class engines that were generally fitted with BFB type pressed wheels.
