    The lighting problem is resolved. The cab-view project has been delayed because of the problem, but version 1.0 is ready to be tested. It will now require andi06's Superscript for random numbering.

    Done:

    • Animated Pantograph acts as an access door between the cab and the interior. The driver's entry door could be split to become a door operable by a command key. For now it's a pantograph since the Gisela doesn't have a pantograph in reality.
    • Animated doors with warning lights. Door animation sounds with all lights are working in MCQ stations, sounds work for all types of stations.
    • 57 passengers can board each Gisela car.
    • Running numbers are now supported using the official Transit typeface (range: 0000-0 to 9999-9), and thanks to Superscript, the fleet numbers are randomised, unless specified using "Properties" in Surveyor modus.
    • Destination boards are added, which covers U1-4, now using an independent engine. They light up at night.
    • Along with the default MCQ headlighting system (the attachments were facing the Z-negative direction), ordinary Headlights are supported for night-running in the open, and can be dimmed to 50% with SHIFT+L.
    • The external view cab is okay, but if processing power increase this may well be superseded by the full cab in future!
    • Engine sound is now available, the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle is still 3000.
    • New bogeys: the wheels turn and the couplers come as standard.
    • The roof is also complete, with that little black disc on the roof.
    • The basic night light controls are in place. Goodbye to SetTextureSelfIllumination!

    Im Bau:

    • Destination boards will eventually cover the Tarka Line in Devon, England.
    • Extend passenger door lighting to non-MCQ stations (Superscript allows for door lights).
    • An internal view cabin under way.
    • The trailers! (those in the form ####-2 or ####-3), but the way I
      designed it allows it to be "mixed and matched" to achieve it.

    I had another go at the model, and it turns out that despite being able to incorporate Superscript into the project and not break the destination mechanism thanks to a separate mesh for the destination sign, I doubt that the night-lights function of the super-script is going to be supported for the doors. :(

    But the good news is that I have done away with SetTextureSelfIllumination at last, ensuring compatibility with TRS2006! :D

    The challenge at the moment, especially when pioneering new technologies to make it work with both U-Bahn and Standard stations, is to trying to get the Gisela working with both the MCQ and Andi06's Superscripts at the same time. Which also means it must work fine with the MCQ stations, and the lighting, which is a problem at the moment.

    Problem 1: If I merged the destination mechanism to the main Gisela file then the U-Bahn stations may think it is not in service and then empty the passengers. It appears that trains using U-Bahn stations need a separate "zielschild" KUID to recognise the type of service.

    Problem 2: It seems only one script or class could be defined in the "config.txt" file.

    Problem 3: Even if it was possible to get superscript running, splitting the "destination mesh" from the "default" mesh, to another alternative mesh, caused the sign-changer to no longer work, even if U-Bahn stations were recognised.

    But: I do have a backup of the last working version of the main file (kuid:381292:1017) and later versions using "kuid2", and the sound engine just needs tweaking, which I can handle. The latest working version has SetTextureSelfIllumination that works fine from TS2009 onwards. The rest of the features are TS2006 compatible.

    Sadly, splitting the meshes have caused more problems than what I have been aiming to achieve, Alex. It might be more easier to use the compatibility conditional formula to disable SetTextureSelfIllumination if it isn't in a version of the game.

    Thanks OK Antje-It works for me in TS2009
    It's just that enginesound-glad you are doing a new one : )
    If other trains can light up at night like andi06's LT D Stock, why can't yours?

    Dank, OK, arbeitet Es für mich in TS2009

    It can light up at night but it just uses a different method which happens to have also been used by Modula City. I have tried using the SuperScript, but that broke the destination blinds mechanism too. Basically, If I had moved the destination mesh to anything other than default mesh, it would stop working since the MCQ script seems to only recognise the default mesh. I might try another method where the night mesh does not have the destination but the self-illumination is constant.

    Hi everyone, many apologies for being bogged down by the university work, but I have completed the new nine-part sound engine, and I will try tomorrow to demonstrate the engine on YouTube. :)

    Sadly, despite my very best efforts, I have been unable to find an efficient alternative to the function "SetTextureSelfIllumination", without causing the destination sign to break down, and the night lights will be limited in older version. I have tried my best, and I will make that clear on the next release.

    I apologise for the potential disappointment but easier ways to do night-lighting, without breaking the destination sign feature, have only been a recent feature. :(

    Thank you for your understanding,
    Antje

    I am going to give the engine a total rebuild anyway: it seems there isn't enough steps in the sound engine to cover many driving styles.

    Very great work. But why has the Gisela for older Versions no night-mode? You can make night-mode in older Versions too. Ich have maked a new sound-engine. I can send you the new sound-engine if you like it.

    SetTextureSelfIllumination was not available in TRS2006, however, I might give a try on the night mesh method used on the Canadian Railways RDC stock.

    I am delighted to see your Gisela sound engine and compare it to mine, because from my audio observation the part of the sound (perhaps the "humming" or "rising whistle" part) comes from the F79 stock if you listen carefully when it was refurbished. Oh, and the sound engine file is in fact categorized as an actual sound engine instead of being just a texture group.

    Very good.
    I was thinking. For light rain/snow why dosent the wiper wipe, pause, wipe, pause
    like on most trains and cars?
    Please reply,

    Sehr gut.
    Ich dachte. Für den leichten Regen/Schnee, warum dosent der Scheibenwischer, Pause wischen, wischen Pause

    That has been included now. :)

    What I did is add another boolean variable which tells the game whether the wipers are set to automatic or not. What I did is turn off the automatic mode for the light rain and snow and added this instead (it was actually two else-if commands to cover both state of the boolean value:

    Code
    else if ((curwetter == 2 or curwetter == 5) and autowipe != 0)
    {
    autowipe = 0; StopMeshAnimation("gi1e-wipe");
    SetMeshAnimationState("gi1e-wipe", true); Sleep(1);
    SetMeshAnimationState("gi1e-wipe", false); Sleep(5);
    }
    else if ((curwetter == 2 or curwetter == 5) and autowipe == 0)
    {
    SetMeshAnimationState("gi1e-wipe", true); Sleep(1);
    SetMeshAnimationState("gi1e-wipe", false); Sleep(5);
    }
    Alles anzeigen

    What it is saying is that if the weather is light rain or snow (integer values 2 and 5), then the looping animation stops, and the manual animation is activated by means of SetMeshAnimationState, where the first wipe (first half of the total length of animation which is 2 seconds) is followed by a sleep period of 1s to allow the first wipe to run, followed by the second wipe, and then a four second delay.

    I would like to update you on the progress of the night-light scripts. There will now be two versions of the Gisela. The first version will have the night-light technology and is intended for Trainz with Modula City, TS2009 and TS2010. The second version will not have night-lighting technology and is intended for older editions (TRS2006).

    Once again I must apologise for the technical problems resulting from the latest beta release (0.9.3) and for now the database entry will be reverted back to the older 0.9.1.

    I am however willing to inform you that after testing the product on a fresh version of the Berlin U-Bahn, on TRS2006, the source of the problem is not the new bogies, nor the door sounds, but the was the way that the night-lighting algorithm was implemented. As BlwPkh has pointed out, the problem is with the function SetTextureSelfIllumination that was in fact a new feature, integrated into the game since TS2009. The trouble with the game is that a single script error causes the entire file to not load at all, which then makes the rest of the features fail. By checking JetLog.txt the blame appears to be solely on the use of SetTextureSelfIllumination. That has been now deleted from the next beta, 0.9.5a until I can find the code for the actual function to be included independently in the gi1e.gs script.

    The corruption of the CDP due to the hard drive going temporarily off-line has been resolved. 8)

    I am looking into the problem with the night lighting: I have used SetTextureSelfIllumination, which first originated from Modula City to accomplish night lighting, but when was that command first introduced to Trainz? :S If necessary I may have to introduce two versions with and without the new technologies that TS2009 and onwards have, which may affect night-lighting.

    Also, I have noticed that the acceleration and deceleration speeds vary between TRS2006 and TS2009.

    I think there is a technical problem regarding the version of the CDP, or a problem with the way I packaged it last night because the hard drive I sent it to temporarily went offline while processing it. This is because I am using TS2010 CDPs (3.2) although the version of the content itself is 2.5.

    Many apologies, but i will try and upload a revised file tonight, GMT. I consider all issues seriously to ensure it works for Trainz 2006+SP1 or later.
